    Notes:

According to his Find a Grave entry, he was a Revolutionary War veteran.

Mehitable (daughter of Ebenezer Shaw and Mary Reed) was born on 10 Nov 1756 in Bridgewater, Plymouth, Massachusetts; died on 15 Apr 1835 in Plainfield, Hampshire, Massachusetts; was buried in West Hill Cemetery, Plainfield, Hampshire, Massachusetts. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

  2. 3.  Mehitable Shaw was born on 10 Nov 1756 in Bridgewater, Plymouth, Massachusetts (daughter of Ebenezer Shaw and Mary Reed); died on 15 Apr 1835 in Plainfield, Hampshire, Massachusetts; was buried in West Hill Cemetery, Plainfield, Hampshire, Massachusetts.

    Notes:

Note that if all the sources cited are correct, she was born when her mother was fifty years old. These dates should be revisited.

We note also that the 1876 Family Records of Some of the Descendents of Thomas Besbedge, (Bisbee,) of Scituate, Mass., in 1634 by William B. Lapham claims that the Ebenezer Bisbee who married Bathsheba Whitmarsh married, second, "Mehitable, daughter of John Shaw." It does not mention a second Ebenezer Bisbee. The Lapham volume is far from infallible, starting from the fact that nobody in it is actually a descendent of Thomas Besbedge of Scitiate, but clearly this line needs another look.

    Children:
    1. 1. James Bisbee was born on 11 Aug 1783 in Plainfield, Hampshire, Massachusetts; died on 27 Dec 1861 in Pharsalia, Chenango, New York; was buried in East Pharsalia Cemetery, East Pharsalia, Chenango, New York.

Generation: 3

  1. 4.  Ebenezer Bisbee, Sr. was born on 10 Feb 1722 in Pembroke, Plymouth, Massachusetts (son of Elisha Bisbee and Patience Soanes); died in in Plainfield, Hampshire, Massachusetts.

    Notes:

Genealogy of the Bisbee Family (citation details below) gives their marriage date as 14 Nov 1745.

With his brother Luther, Ebenezer Bisbee moved from Plymouth county to Plainfield in western Massachusetts. They were among the first settlers of Plainfield. He was chosen selectman in 1788 and served for fifteen years thereafter. His death date is unknown to us.

Ebenezer married Bathsheba Whitmarsh on 9 Jan 1746 in Abington, Plymouth, Massachusetts. Notes:

Nahum Mitchell (citation details below) identifies the Mary Read who married Ebenezer Shaw as a daughter, born 1706, of Samuel Read of Weymouth and his wife Mary Davis. But as this WeRelate page correctly points out, the will of Stephen Reed, 20 Jan 1737, gives one share to "Mary Shaw the Wife of Ebenezer Shaw of Bridgewater in the County afores'd who is one of the Daughters of the s'd Deceased".

    Children:
    1. 3. Mehitable Shaw was born on 10 Nov 1756 in Bridgewater, Plymouth, Massachusetts; died on 15 Apr 1835 in Plainfield, Hampshire, Massachusetts; was buried in West Hill Cemetery, Plainfield, Hampshire, Massachusetts.

    Notes:

Also called Sonnes, Soames. Conceivably the Patiance Somes who was born 25 Nov 1697 in Gloucester, Massachusetts to Timothy and Hannah Somes, as claimed on Wikitree. This Hannah was probably married previously to a man surnamed Despar, as Timothy Somes's will bequeaths to "daughter-in-law Sarah Despar." But by the standards of the time Gloucester is a long way from Pembroke, where our Patience married Elisha Bisbee, and where Elisha's parents spent the latter part of their lives.
