    Said to have served in the War of 1812. ancestry.com contains an entry for a "Squire, Daniel" in its War of 1812 Pension Application Files Index 1812-1815, which states his service to have been "Capt. H. Pratt's Co. N.Y. Mil." Whether this is our Daniel Squire is not established, although the (well-documented) fact that our Daniel Squire's father fought in the Revolution does add credence to the idea.

    He received a pension for service in the American Revolution as a private under Capt. James Dana and Col. Andrew Ward, Connecticut troops.

    According to a statement provided by the Department of the Interior to a descendant on 2 Feb 1917, this Daniel Squier fought at the battle of Bunker Hill.

    This statement also noted that this Daniel Squier, living in Salem, Washington, New York in 1822, was at that time in his 67th year and that his wife was the same age.
