  1. 2.  Moses George Halaney was born on 15 Jul 1889 in Syria, Ottoman Empire; died on 28 Apr 1963 in St. Louis, St. Louis, Missouri; was buried in Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, Lemay, St. Louis, Missouri.

    Other Events and Attributes:

    • Alternate birth: 20 Jul 1889, Syria

    Notes:

On his World War I draft registration record, he gives his birthplace as "Hanney, Syria, Turkey", and on his World War II registration, he gives it as "Hine, Syria." A cursory search of modern Syrian place names finds nothing that obviously corresponds to these, but we're far from expert.

He was a private in World War I. His death certificate calls him "retired day laborer."

He appears to have been married twice, secondly to a Laura Booker. They were certainly married by 25 Apr 1942, the date of his World War II draft registration paperwork.

His death certificate gives his birthplace as "Herrin, Ill.", which is where he was living at the time he registered for the World War I draft. It also gives his birthday as 20 Jul 1889, the date he gave in his WWII draft paperwork, rather than 15 Jul 1889, which he gave on his WWI registration. And it gives his parents' names as "George Halaney" and "Tillie Murray."

Moses married Wilhelmina Holmes. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]
