    Notes:

William Henry Harrison Stowell's The Stowell Genealogy (Rutland, Vermont: The Tuttle Company, 1922) claims that she was a daughter of Ephraim Richards and Mary Bates, born in Weymouth 13 Mar 1722, but George Walter Chamberlain (citation details below) notes that this Mary Richards died in April of the same year.

  1. 8.  Sgt. William Pettee was born on 12 May 1661 in Weymouth, Norfolk, Massachusetts (son of William Pettee and Mary); died on 6 Jun 1728; was buried in North Cemetery, Weymouth, Norfolk, Massachusetts.

William married Mary Porter about 1685. Mary (daughter of Sgt. John Porter and Deliverance Byram) was born on 12 Oct 1663 in Weymouth, Norfolk, Massachusetts; died on 24 Dec 1746 in Weymouth, Norfolk, Massachusetts. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

  2. 9.  Mary Porter was born on 12 Oct 1663 in Weymouth, Norfolk, Massachusetts (daughter of Sgt. John Porter and Deliverance Byram); died on 24 Dec 1746 in Weymouth, Norfolk, Massachusetts.

    Notes:

She is given two different birth dates at two different places in George Walter Chamberlain's History of Weymouth (citation details below). In the entry for her husband, William Pettee, she is said to have been born at Weymouth 12 Oct 1663; in the entry for her father, Sgt. John Porter, she is said to have been born in the same place on 22 Oct 1662.

This is probably an error prompted by the fact that the vital records of Weymouth contain two entries for a Mary Porter, daughter of John and Deliverance. In the published version (citation details below), the entries are immediately adjacent to one another, although the mother is spelled "Deliverence" in the second entry. One entry says 22 Oct 1662 and the next says 12 Oct 1663. The likeliest interpretation of this is that the child born in 1662 died in childbirth or infancy, and that this Mary Porter is the one born in 1663.
