  1. 1.  Mary Evelyn Eaton was born on 30 Sep 1898 in Ironton, Lawrence, Ohio (daughter of William Oliver Eaton and Minnie Russell); died on 22 Jan 1995 in Columbus, Franklin, Ohio; was buried in Spring Hill Cemetery, Huntington, Cabell, West Virginia.

    Other Events:

    • Alternate birth: 30 Sep 1901, Proctorville, Lawrence, Ohio

The "Ohio, Births and Christenings Index, 1774-1973" database on reports her birthplace as Union, Lawrence County, Ohio. No such place exists. The database contains no image of the primary source for this, but we can well imagine a badly-handwritten "Ironton" being mistranscribed as "Union." [Update, 21 Apr 2021: The "U.S., Social Security Applications and Claims Index, 1936-2007" database on now confirms her birthplace as Ironton.]

Her date of birth on the record of her first marriage is three years later than that on the record of her second. The 1898 date is confirmed by multiple records of her death.

She is buried at Spring Hill Cemetery in Huntington, West Virginia as "Mary Evelyn Eaton Klages", so it seems highly unlikely that she married again after the death of Reynold Edward Klages. Oddly, Spring Hill Cemetery also contains the grave of her first husband John Diller Raabe's second wife Esther Mae Craddock.

Tyrone (Pennsylvania) Daily Herald, 22 Jun 1926, citation details below:
