Notes - He is probably the Francis Gould in Boston in 1639, a watchman, being censured by the court. In 1643 he is in Duxbury, recorded as among those able to bear arms. By 1649 he is in Braintree where he is living with his wife Rose. Late in 1659 or early in 1660 they moved to Chelmsford. In all these records and others his surname is spelled variously — Goole, Goold, Gold, Gould, etc.
On 3 Apr 1645 one John Eddy, aged eight, is recorded as apprenticed to "Francis Goulder of Plymouth, yeoman," and subsequent records show that young Eddy learned the trade of a blacksmith from Goole.
