Notes - Sheriff of Cambridgeshire and Huntingdonshire 1194, 1194, and 1195. Sheriff of Essex and Hertfordshire 1197. Justice itinerant from 1191 (and possibly earlier) to his death.
He is assumed to be a son of John de Argentein, although nothing firmly rules out the possibility that he was a nephew. Some records do refer to John's father Reginald as the "avus", or grandfather, of this Reginald, thus making it more likely than not that John was this Reginald's father.
He had a brother also named Reginald, who is referred to as Reginald "de Halesworth."
