  Second of his name; the first John Thacher, son of the same Peter and Abigail, was born 9 Aug 1719 and died 3 Apr 1739, just weeks after this John Thacher's birth. Presumably he was known to be dying when the second John was christened. He served in the Revolution in the company of Capt. John Durkee.
