    • He assumed the surname Bennet in 1894 upon inheriting property. As of 1908 he was a lieutenant in the Reserve Motor Volunteers. He appears to have subsequently gone as Frederick Stewart Hotham Bennet; it seems to have been the next generation that combined the two names.
