• Notes

  The 1880 census calls him a "printer." The 1900 census gives his occupation as "editor." The 1930 census lists him as a "compositor" and says that both his parents were born in Germany. Someone on ancestry.com has annotated the 1900 census to claim that his first name was "Orton," but decades of other documents spell it Urbin or Urban.
