Notes - Arrived 16 Sep 1632 on the Lyon. He was literate; his inventory included many books of a legal and ecclesiastical nature. In a letter, Bay Colony governor John Winthrop said "Mr. Benjamin's mansion was unsurpassed in elegance and comfort by any in the vicinity." It seems likely that he was of gentry origins, but nothing has been discovered to indicate the identity of his parents.
