"Captured 1297 when allied with Count Otto of Tecklenburg against Konrad, Lord of Diepholz, whose daughter he married the following year and who later joined him in a feud against Duke Otto II of Brunswick-Lüneburg, in 1305 his town of Oldenburg was captured by a force of regional knights but he regained it with the help of Bremen and his Oldemnburg and Diepholz relatives."
