Notes - Her tombstone is in Wheeler Cemetery in East Bloomfield, but she is also listed on the tombstone of her second husband John Pool in Lakeview Cemetery in the same county.
Although both the 1893 History of Ontario County, New York and the generally-meticulous Harriette M. Wheeler (citation details for both below) say that she died in 1878, her ornate tombstone clearly reads:
DEBORAH
WIFE OF
JOHN POOL
Relict of
Benjamin D. Wheeler
DIED
June 2, 1860
Aged 69 Years
It's tempting to identify her as the Deborah Reed who was born 12 Mar 1793 in Dighton, Massachusetts to Simeon Reed and Hannah Wheeler (!), but we're unaware of any proof. Were this the case, and if the Hannah Wheeler in question was the Hannah Wheeler recorded by History of the Wheeler Family in America (citation details below) as a daughter of Jonathan Wheeler (b. 1735) and Patience Cole, then Deborah Reed and Benjamin Daggett Wheeler would have been second cousins, both being great-grandchildren of Philip Wheeler and Martha Salisbury.
Another possibility is that she was the Deborah Reed born 30 May 1790 in Middleborough, Massachusetts, daughter of Joshua Reed.
- Her tombstone is in Wheeler Cemetery in East Bloomfield, but she is also listed on the tombstone of her second husband John Pool in Lakeview Cemetery in the same county.
