Notes - Appears in Albany records as early as 1661. Said to have been of French descent. "Pruyn" rhymes with shine. He was a tailor.
His wife was a member of the Albany Dutch Reform church. He was not; indeed, he refused to sign a 1699 oath of loyalty to William III, calling himself a "papist." He did, however, indicate a willingness to swear fidelity. At any rate he continued to live peacably in the community.
