    • Also called John Dudley. 1st Lord Dudley. Lieutenant of Ireland. Constable of Clun and Wigmore castles. Ambassador to Brittany and Burgundy. Treasurer of the Household to Henry VI. Constable of the Tower of London. Joint Chamberlain to Queen Elizabeth Woodville. Summoned to Parliament by writ from 15 Feb 1440 to 1 Sep 1487.

      He served in France under Henry V and was a staunch Lancastrian under Henry VI, with whom he was taken prisoner at the 1st Battle of St. Albans in 1455. He was later wounded at the Battle of Blore Heath, 23 Sep 1459. Despite his loyalty to Henry VI, he was immediately received into favor on the accession of Edward IV.
