"[U]sually styled Lord of Lennox or Lord of the earldom of Lennox, heir male of the Celtic Earls of Lennox, named 1351 in a charter when lands granted to his father were confirmed to him, swore fealty to King Robert II at his coronation in 1371, sealed 1373 the act of settlement of the crown of Scotland, in 1385 with his wife resigned the earldom and lordship of Lennox to the king in favor of their son, and in 1388 they received royal confirmation of the life-rent of the earldom."
