  The Scots Peerage (citation details below) identifies her as a daughter of Walter Stewart, d. 1241 (also called Walter fitz Alan), third high steward of Scotland. But Andrew B. W. MacEwen, in "Seven Scottish Countesses, A Miscellany: III. Cristina de Brus, Countess of Dunbar" (The Genealogist 17:223, Fall 2003) says that "no daughter of [this Walter] has ever been identified."
