  "The marriage of Thomas Jocelyn with Maud Hide brought into his possession the manor of the Hide, or 'Hide Hall,' which descended to his heirs, the Josselyn family owning it for almost six hundred and fifty years, when in 1897, itv was willed to Sophia, widow of the fifth Earl of Roden, who had died without issue.
