  He was a prosperous yeoman. He and his wife were members of the Guild of Knowle, a charitable guild founded in 1412. It was dissolved by Henry VIII in 1539. They were also members of the Guild of the Holy Cross, The Blessed Mary and Saint John the Baptist, of Stratford-upon Avon.
