  In the 1860 census, he, his wife Catherine, and four children including Isabella age 7, are living in German, Clark County, Ohio. In the 1880 census, he and Catherine ("Cathrin") are living in Bethel, Clark County, and his occupation is given as "carpet weaver." The 1880 census says that his parents and his wife's parents were all born in Pennsylvania. He enlisted in the US army on 28 Jul 1813 and was discharged three weeks later on 18 Aug. His rank is given in the record as "drummer." He was in Capt. Jacob Richhart's company.
