  • Notes
    • Clerk and vicar of Awliscombe, Devon. 3 Feb 1617, here given as the date prior to which he died, is the date on which the vicarage went to John Hassard. The record indicates that by then it had been vacant for some period of time, and (according to Elizabeth French, citation details below), the choice of Latin terminology employed hints that Peter Mavericke met a violent end. "In the parish register of Awliscombe the burial of Peter Mavericke is not recorded, nor is there any allusion in the registers to the time, place, or manner of his death."
