      He was a soldier in the Saint-Ours company of the regiment of Carignan. He arrived in Quèbec on 12 Sep 1665 on the Saint-Sébastien, which was also carring incoming New France governor Daniel Rémy de Courcelles and incoming New France intendant (i.e., civil administrator) Jean Talon.
