• Notes

  According to An Outline History of the Swihart Family in America (citation details below), he was a son of Gabriel Swinehart, Jr. (d. 1805) and his wife Barbara Ripling, Gabriel being a son of Gabriel and Esther Swinehart (dates of birth and death unknown), this earlier Gabriel being a son of George Swinehart of Prince George County, Maryland, born about 1710, probably an immigrant from Germany, and his wife Margaret. We find it hard to believe in four generations born in 46 years and we suspect that while all of these people were quite possibly related, something in this narrative is deeply confused.
