Notes - He was an inhabitant of New Haven by 1643, where is first cited in colony records for being late for militia drill. He later removed to New Jersey, where he signed the Elizabethtown oath of allegiance in Feb 1665/6. As Robert Charles Anderson demonstrates, no connection has been found between him and the Samuel Whitehead who arrived in Cambridge in 1634, removed to Hartford in 1636, and then went to New Haven in 1639, where he died in September 1690.
