Relations between the Hoghtons and the ducal Lancasters at this time are described in Henry de Hoghton's History of Parliament entry as "extremely cordial." Henry accompanied the duke's son, Henry Bolingbroke, the future Henry IV, on his 1390-91 expedition to Prussia and Lithuania, an expedition that also included TNH ancestor John Waterton and John's brother, ancestor of AP, DDB, and DGH Robert Waterton.
