    • He was the youngest of the four Carpenter children who accompanied their parents and their paternal grandfather to Massachusetts in the Bevis in 1638. First at Weymouth, then Rehoboth in 1644 and Swansea by 1670.

      He was a joiner and a house carpenter, and literate. He was one of the seven founders of the first Baptist church in Massachusetts, at Rehoboth in 1666.
