  • Notes
    • According to William Proud Davis (citation details below), and also according to Roger Faxton Sturgis (citation details below), she was a daughter of Edward Sturges (1630-1695), the original Sturges immigrant to New England. But Robert Charles Anderson's entry for Edward Sturges does not list a Sarah among his children. Notably, however, her daughter Desire Gorham married her first cousin John Baxter, whose mother Temperance Gorman, after the death of her husband Thomas Baxter, married Edward Sturges.

Elizabeth Pearson White (citation details below) carefully notes that Sarah "is thought to" have been a daughter of Edward and Elizabeth Sturges.
