Notes - At Rowley slightly after 1643, where he was granted a house lot and took the freeman's oath in 1651. In Middletown by 16 Jul 1653. He was a wheelwright and an innkeeper. Captain of Middletown militia in 1677. Deputy to the Connecticut general court 1678, 1684, 1687, and 1689. He was one of the deputies present in 1687 when Connecticut's charter was hidden from the royally-imposed Governor Andros and, it is said, hidden by Capt. Joseph Wadsworth in the Charter Oak tree.
