  The History of Parliament entry for her father, Sir Thomas Hinton of Chilton Foliat says that "his daughter married Samuel Matthews, the colony's governor in the 1650s", thus like many historians confusing the elder Samuel Mathews with his son and namesake who was governor in his twenties and died in office. She may have been the Sara Hinton who was baptized 7 Jun 1604 in Wanborough, Wiltshire, 11.5 miles from Chilton Foliat, daughter of a Thomas Hinton.
