Notes - According to pension records transcribed in the letter from Emma Belle Whitley Holmes cited below, he enlisted for service as a private on 9 Jan 1777, captain Wait Hopkins, colonel Seth Warner (more about Seth Warner here). In July 1779 he was captured by native Americans at Fourteen Mile Island, Lake George, taken to Montreal and New York, and liberated in November 1782. He fought at battles in Bennington and Hubbardton. At the time of his enlistment he lived in Rutland, Bennington County, Vermont. When he applied for a pension on 18 Apr 1818, he was living at Bridgewater, Susquehanna County, Pennsylvania.
