Notes - "[H]e was not the son of Roger Wilson of Scrooby, Nottinghamshire, a man who never existed. This ancestry was contrived in 1867 by S. C. Newman, 'a prominent local historian' in an attempt to establish a Mayflower connection for a wealthy client." [Ken Newman, citation details below]
He and his family arrived at Salem in 1652. They appear to have been Baptists, with the usual legal difficulties accompanying this.
