From his Find a Grave page, significantly cleaned up: "Samuel Monroe served in the French and Indian War, commanded by Captain Jedediah Fay of Ashford, Connecticut, from April 10 to September 3, 1758. Also in the campaign of 1759 under Captain Slap of Mansfield, Connecticut. In the Revolutionary War he served in the Fourth Company, Eighth Regiment, of Connecticut volunteers from July 8 to November 30, 1775, then re-enlisted May 14, 1776 in Captain Oziah Petibone's company of Colonel Ward's regiment. He died in service on January 15, 1777. [...] He died by Kings Ferry."
