The late John Brooks Threlfall (citation details below) believed her to be a daughter of John Heald's wife Dorothy Royle, who John Heald married on 3 Dec 1636 at Alderley, Cheshire, but Stephen Waasa Spaulding (citation details below), based on more recent research, believes her to have been a daughter of an undocumented earlier wife of John Heald.
