Notes - Josiah Paine, town clerk and historian of Harwich, who was a Snow brother-in-law, wrote that Constance (Hopkins) Snow, daughter of Mayflower passenger Stephen Hopkins and wife of Nicholas Snow, had a daughter named for her mother who was the first wife of Daniel Doane of Eastham. No official birth or marriage records have been found to prove this, so the Mayflower Society doesn't accept it as proven that descendants of Daniel Doane and his first wife were descendants of Stephen Hopkins. We think that Paine's testimony is as good as a lot of evidence cited in reasonably rigorous genealogy.
