Notes - He should not be confused with the Francis Brown of New Haven who married Mary Edwards. This Francis Brown was a deputy to the Connecticut legislature, for Stamford, in May 1665, May 1667, Oct 1668, and May 1669.
According to Donald Lines Jacobus (citation details below), he was probably a brother of Peter Brown (1632-1692) of Windsor, Connecticut, an ancestor of the abolitionist John Brown.
