In 1967, Coddington ("Notes on the Bostock Family of Co. Chester, England, and the Bostwick Family of Stratford, Connecticut", The American Genealogist 43:76) pointed out that the 1965 edition of Burke's Landed Gentry included a "very well-organized account of the family of 'Bostock formerly of Bostock,' apparently based on pedigrees registered at the College of Arms [...] In this pedigree, it is shown that at least two junior lines of the Bostocks of Bostock established themselves at Tarporley," beginning with William Bostock of Bostock who was present at Evesham in 1265."
