Notes - Also called Cuthbert Cuthbertson. Like Sarah Allerton's previous husband, Mayflower passenger Degory Priest, he was a hatter. He was literate and appears to have been multilingual; he owned at least one book in French.
Contemporary records imply that other Plymouth colonists regarded him as "Dutch", suggesting that he spoke that language as well as English. But according to both of his marriage records, he was of "Eastland", which Robert Charles Anderson identifies as "that region around Danzig, now part of Poland."
