  • Notes
    • He arrived in 1634; first at Roxbury, then Dorchester by 1667. He is identified in the 1634 record of his admission to the church at Roxbury as a "manservant." He was a husbandman. He served as a selectman in Roxbury in about 1650, about 1657, and in about 1660.

He was almost certainly a brother of Giles Payson, who arrived in 1635 on the Hopewell. However, although his and Giles's baptismal dates are known, the record of their baptisms does not identify their parents.
