Notes - He arrived in New France in 1651 as a soldier; he was also a fur trader and an interpreter of Native languages. The first mention of him in the records is at the baptism of Perrine, a Native American daughter of Marie Kitarangakae and an unnamed Native American father, where he is listed as the godfather, Pierre Kouc dit Lafleur de Cognac, along with godmother Jeanne Onaut, wife of Pierre Lefebvre, on August 27, 1651, in Trois-Rivières.
He married Marie Miteouamegoukoue, an Algonquin woman, and two of his sons also married women from the First Nations.
