Notes - He was at Wethersfield, Connecticut by 1635. According to William B. Saxbe (citation details below), he was one of the first ship owners at Wethersfield, and traded up and down the Connecticut River. He served in the Pequot War of 1635-38. From 1641 to 1643, he was a deputy to the Connecticut legislature from Wethersfield. He is called "Mr." in many surviving records.
He and his wife were ancestors of FDR. According to Donald Lines Jacobus (citation details below), they were probably also ancestors of Percy Bysshe Shelley.
