  • Notes
    • "No record of his burial or probate has been found. It is often stated in online pedigrees that George married Deborah Gardner, but no evidence has been found in support of this claim. In about 1600 George Slye of Lapworth leased lands in Rowington from John and Jane Cox of Rowington. However, in 1604 George brought a suit against John Cox and Richard Lea, a former tenant, for entering the land and cutting down and selling twenty oak trees and the "lops" of many other ancient trees on the land by some prior agreement or "indirect practice" unknown to George. George appeared as a tenant on a court roll of the Manor of Rowington dated 5 May 1614." [Clifford L. Stott, citation details below]

George Slye is a direct ancestor of AP and TSW, and the paternal grandfather of the second wife of PNH's ancestor Edward Cole (1657-1717).
