    • Immigrated to New England in 1633 and settled at Cambridge. He was Assistant Governor of the Massachusetts Bay Colony in 1634 and 1636, and Governor in 1635. Removed to Hartford in 1637, where, among other offices, he was Deputy Governor in 1640, 1644, 1646, and 1650, and Governor in 1639, 1641, 1643, 1645, 1647, 1649, 1651, and 1653. His name is on the Founders Monument in downtown Hartford.
