  • Notes 
    • Family tradition, never proved, asserts him as a son of Captain Miles Standish of the Mayflower and the Plymouth colony, by his first wife Rose, in England. However, Miles Standish's will mentions only his four sons by his second wife, Barbara.

      He was certainly, like Miles, a soldier; he fought in the Pequot war and he was the fort keeper at Wethersfield.
