  He joined the Kingwood Baptist Church (at or near Locktown, Hunterdon, New Jersey) in 1749. He first appears in Kentucky records on 23 Aug 1780. He settled first at Boston, Nelson county, where he lived until 1800 when he moved west to Vertrees in Hardin county.
