  • Notes
    • Sheriff of Northamptonshire 1380, 1385, 1390. Sheriff of Bedfordshire and Buckinghamshire 1383. Knight of the shire for Northamptonshire in five parliaments between 1382 and 1390.

Complete Peerage identifies him as a knight, but Douglas Richardson's 24 Apr 2022 post to SGM points out the lack of evidence that this was the case.

"John Wydeville was dead before 29 August 1398 - see no. 1312, inquisition taken Thursday after St Bartholomew (24 August), 22 Richard II: 'The lands in Stokebruer, Shetilhangre and Alderton are held of the heirs of John Wodevyll for 19s. yearly', here: https://www.british-history.ac.uk/inquis-post-mortem/vol17/pp495-508."
