  • Notes
    • It is possible that "Gwerystan" was a derivative of the English "Werestan."

Boyer calls him "Gwerystan ap Gwaithfoed", making him a son of "Gwaithfoed of Powys", "who was said to be perhaps the same as Casanauth Wledig", born "say 930". Darrell Wolcott shows him in the second chart in "The Clan of Tudor Trevor" (citation details below), son of a father named Gwaithfoed who is given as dying in around 915. On the other hand, Stewart Baldwin, who regards this Gwerystan's existence as plausible because his name appears in plausible sources as the patronym of his son Cynfyn, dismisses earlier generations of his pedigree.
