  • Notes
    • He was a soldier in the Froment company of the regiment of Carignan. He was murdered by his landlord, Julien Talua, after Tulua came home to find Roy in bed with his wife. After being convicted of murder and sentenced to death, Talua escaped and was never seen or heard from again.

He was long thought to have abandoned his family in France in order to come to Quebec, but in 2017 Gail Moreau-DesHarnais published evidence that his two sons by his first wife, Catherine Byot, both died in France in 1661, during a famine, before Antoine Roy emigrated, and it seems likely that Catherine died around the same time as well.
