Given Rall's unfunny and repugnant "9/11 widows" cartoon, I can't say I'm surprised he's still doing it.
Hell, Mallard Fillmore, which as far as I can tell the Boston Globe publishes in an attempt to make conservatives look stupid and unfunny, is better than his stuff.
I came over to post exactly the link that Carlos just did. Check it out. And ask yourself where Rall gets off portraying this obviously smart and complicated guy as an idiot.
Ted Rall would be a better human being if he would learn that the fact that people are sometimes excessively sentimental doesn't amount to a license for Ted Rall to shit on their face. There are worse things than piety and sentimentality. Deliberate cruelty--hey, there's one.
I really wonder who Rall thought he was pandering to. Not only does he come across as an ignorant elitist anti-jock snob in his hateful little cartoon, but he seems to think his audience should share his prejudices.
"Complicated". That's exactly right. Rall took the complexity of a human life, and turned it into something less than an object. A stereotype, with no connection to reality at all. A lie.
(And of course there are no Arab football players in Rall's world, and no football player ever went into harm's way and tackled the assassin of a left-wing presidential candidate, and they're all idiots anyway because their profession doesn't require them to be very articulate. Feh.)
A lot has made me very angry over the past few days, but this... well, it's the same rot, but in a different place.

Rall demonstrates the same nobility of spirit that shined through the comment section of Little Green Footballs upon the death of Rachel Corrie.
And the sumbitch can’t draw worth a damn either. Seriously. His caricature of GW Bush is the worst I’ve ever seen from a professionally-published cartoonist. Actually, it’s the worst I’ve ever seen period, but I haven’t checked all the world’s bathroom stalls for a full comparison.
