  2. 5.  Abigail Phillips (daughter of Deacon Nicholas Phillips and Elizabeth); died on 19 Sep 1724 in Weymouth, Norfolk, Massachusetts.

    Notes:

Bassett-Preston Ancestors (citation details below) gives her the birth date of 20 Feb 1661. This source also states, evidently incorrectly, that her father married on 4 Jan 1651, as his second wife, Hannah Salter. That would make Hannah Salter the mother of Abigail Phillips, but evidently this is a result of confusion with a different Nicholas Phillips. To the best of our knowledge, Nicholas Phillips had only one wife, Elizabeth (not proven to have been Jenson or Jewson), and while she last appears on the record consenting to her husband's sale of some property on the 11th day of the 6th month, 1651, she could easily have lived quite some time after that.

Nathaniel married Susanna Bates on 16 Dec 1658 in Charlestown, Suffolk, Massachussets. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

  2. 9.  Susanna Bates

    Notes:

In 2024, Ian Watson (citation details below) explained how a convincing case cannot be made for Susanna Bates, wife of Nathaniel Blanchard, as the Susanna Bates who was baptised 12 Jan 1634 at Aston Clinton, Buckinghamshire, a daughter of Edward Bates and Susanna Putnam.

    Children:
    1. 4. John Blanchard was born on 27 Mar 1660 in Weymouth, Norfolk, Massachusetts; died on 10 Mar 1733 in Weymouth, Norfolk, Massachusetts.

    Other Events and Attributes:

    • Alternate death: Between 2 Jun 1672 and 2 Oct 1672, Weymouth, Norfolk, Massachusetts
    • Alternate death: Sep 1672

    Notes:

Emigrated 1636. At Dedham before 18 Aug 1636, where he signed the covenant; Weymouth before 1663. Not to be confused with Nicholas Phillips of Boston (d. 1670), husband of Hannah Salter.

Deacon married Elizabeth on 26 Jun 1631 in Wendover, Buckinghamshire, England. Elizabeth died after 11 Aug 1651. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

  4. 11.  Elizabeth died after 11 Aug 1651.

    Notes:

The last mention of her in the record is in Weymouth, where on "the 11th day of the 6th month 1651 Elizabeth Phillips wife of Nicholas" gives her consent to her husband's sale of a house and several parcels of land to Francis Smith of Hingham.

She is called "Elizabeth Jewson" in several reasonably reputable sources, for instance the 1951 The American Genealogist article cited below, but we have been unable to find proof of this.
