1. William Latham was born on 9 Jul 1670 in New London, New London, Connecticut; died on 5 Nov 1732 in New London County, Connecticut; was buried in Avery-Morgan Burial Ground, Groton, New London, Connecticut.

Notes:

First in New England in 1639, at Cambridge, then at New London, where in 1654 he was awarded the lease and monopoly of the ferry over the Pequot River.

Cary married Elizabeth Masters before 1639. Elizabeth (daughter of John Masters and Jane) was born about 1612. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

Notes:

The mother of Cary Latham has been widely identified as an Elizabeth Newman who married Nicholas Latham in Aldenham, Hertfordshire on 3 Apr 1604. But in correction published in the The New England Historical and Genealogical Register in 2003 (157:392), Bob and Elsa Pendleton pointed out that the earliest Aldenham child of Nicholas Latham was baptized there on 17 May 1612, making it quite possible that Elizabeth Newman was not the mother of Cary Latham, or of any of Nicholas Latham's children.

John married Jane before 1606. Jane died on 10 Dec 1639 in Cambridge, Middlesex, Massachusetts. [Group Sheet] [Family Chart]

Notes:

"She died at Cambridge 10 December 1639, yet her husband named her in his [19 December] will, suggesting an error on the clerk's part or a lack of awareness on John's [NEHGR 4:181].
